Navy Launches Ship Named for Pioneering Gay San Francisco Leader Harvey Milk

Posted On: November 09, 2021

In honor of Veterans Day...

What a special and welcoming event!  The US Navy has decided to christen a ship in honor of gay right activist Harvey Milk who served in the Navy as a lieutenant at a time when being gay forced so many out of the military and many of whom were unjustly dishonorably discharge merely for their sexual orientation.

This is a bright and uplifting action by the Navy to show its support of the LGBTQ community now and in the future!

A Lesbian Mom Raised Her Son For Two years. An Oklahoma Judge erased That In 15 Minutes.

Posted On: June 07, 2022

This recent decision is very scary and demonstrates one of the reasons I advise clients, notwithstanding, that they may both be on the birth certificate; a second parent adoption is really necessary to protect your rights to the child and your child’s rights to you in any State in the Union.  This poor woman had her rights to her child and even her name on the birth certificate stripped simply because that is what the Judge thought should be done, and rationalized it by stating there was “no proof of a second parent adoption”.

This decision is horrific for the mother who has lost all rights to her child!

It also sets an extremely bad precedent for the LGBTQ community and same sex married parents who still technically lack the same rights guaranteed to heterosexual married couples.

Neuroscientists Reveal What It Takes To Make Love Last

Posted On: March 31, 2021

As most of us know, our bodies can be broken down into simple chemistry.  The same is true for how things react in our brain.  It was interesting to learn that in this study people who had been in long term relationships of an average of 21 years had the same chemical reaction in their brains as people who had recently fallen in love when they were shown a picture of their partner.  What's also interesting is that an activity jump in the areas of the brain associated with maternal love and pair bonding suggest that feelings of attachment are an important facet of a romantic relationship, at least as demonstrated by the chemistry in your brain.

Obviously the key to a long term relationship is not just mere chemistry...science has yet to figure out exactly what keeps the flame of love alive for extended long term relationships, but we all know it's more than just romantic love.  A healthy long lasting relationship also requires elements of attachments and pair bonding and I submit, cooperation, honesty, communication and respect for one another.
